Program Overview

The Concorde Jacksonville Nursing (Associate of Science) program prepares students for entry-level, Registered Nurse positions. Successful completion of the Nursing program leads to the award of an Associate of Science in Nursing degree and permits the graduate to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses® (NCLEX-RN) and to the Florida State Board of Nursing for licensure.

Program Delivery

The Nursing (Associate of Science) program is delivered in a blended format. Some courses will be delivered entirely online, entirely on-ground, or with an appropriate blend of both online and on-ground hours in the same course. Of the 1600 program hours, a maximum of 495.75 course hours (30.98%) may be offered online (including general education courses). Campuses may have the option to deliver general education courses either online or on-ground depending on local need and availability.

Program Objectives

The purpose of the Concorde Jacksonville Nursing Associate of Science program is to:

Provide a learning environment that will lead to the successful completion of program objectives:

  • Prepare a responsible and accountable professional nurse who uses critical thinking while providing competent, safe, client/patient care.
  • Prepare the graduate to provide nursing care in a variety of settings.
  • Prepare the graduate to value personal and professional growth as lifelong learners.
  • Prepare the graduate to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN® examination on the first attempt and become gainfully employed.

Upon completion of the program, it is intended that students will:

  • Provide safe, compassionate, culturally competent, patient-centered, quality care in a variety of settings for patients across the lifespan in response to their changing health needs.
  • Examine the evidence that underlies clinical nursing practice to challenge the status quo, question underlying assumptions, and offer new insights to improve the quality of care for patients, families, and communities.
  • Use the nursing process to make judgments in practice, substantiated with evidence, that integrates nursing science in the provision of safe, quality care and promotes the health of patients within a family and community context.
  • Demonstrate excellence using evidence-based practice in integrity, responsibility, professional identity, and ethical decision-making in the role of the nurse while advocating for patients, families, colleagues, community, and self.
  • Utilize information technology, professional standards, and professional communication to emerge as leaders in interprofessional collaboration in the provision of safe, quality, care for patients and families.
