HPRS1313 : Healthcare Concepts

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the health care environment. Students will cover common Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology used in the health care environment. Focusing on the health care team and delivery systems, students will learn about legal and ethical responsibilities, safety and infection control and interpersonal communication and behaviors. Students will also obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

HPRS1320 : Foundations for Health Professionals

Foundations for Health Professions introduces students to the foundational medical terminology essential for success in healthcare programs and future coursework in anatomy and physiology. Emphasis is placed on terminology related to body systems, diseases, procedures, and diagnostics. In addition to building a strong medical vocabulary base, this course supports overall student success by teaching essential college readiness skills. Topics include time management, effective study strategies, critical thinking, goal setting, and navigating academic resources. Finally, this course introduces students to the foundational workforce skills identified by Concorde as essential to their workforce readiness, setting the stage or the remainder of their academic and professional journey.
